2012 Masters of the Mountains season starts April 21-22 at Miller Motorsports Park April 10, 2012. Tooele, Utah Racers excitement is in the building as the Utah Sport Bike Association (UtahSBA) gears up for another thrilling six-event Masters of the Mountains race series at Miller Motorsports Park, in Tooele, Utah. Initial outlook for the series is strong for 2012, with larger grids of both veteran expert and novice racers and more contingency and manufacturer support. Miller Motorsports Park is one of the most spectacular racing venues in the United States. A first-class facility surrounded by the panoramic view of the Wasatch Front and once led AMA star Eric Bostrom to proclaim the venue as the “Cathedral of Motorsports.” In its eighth year of competition Miller Motorsports Park will once again host the Masters of the Mountains race series by UtahSBA. UtahSBA President, Ryan Brand said Monday: “It is always a privilege to ride at this facility and to be hosted such a professional organization. UtahSBA is fortunate to race here.” The UtahSBA is looking forward to a great season of racing after the successful implementation of the New Racer Experience (NRE) introduced in 2011. Brand continued: “The NRE has allowed us to reach out to new racers and give them a taste of racing at minimal cost.” Some of these riders are now returning with dedicated commitment to the 2012 season and a desire to do well with a new crop of riders filling up the ranks. “This idea has been really successful for the club, and we’re excited to be doing it again,” Brand said. In addition to continuing the successful NRE, the club has also restored a Saturday sprint race in the form of the Deseret Dash. The Deseret Dash is a point’s race open to both Expert and Novice racers and will feature a two-wave start grid format. The race is open to nearly any motorcycle with a “run what you brung” format and is anticipated to boast a populated grid with action-packed racing. UtahSBA’s premier King of the Mountain (KOM) title is the blue-ribbon event of the series and has developed a legacy of fierce competition and enthusiastic rivalry as racers vie for the top spot at one of America’s most prestigious race tracks. The 2011 KOM title was won by Canadian native Jesse Sherstan. UtahSBA is looking forward to a great turnout and fantastic racing this year as riders hailing from as far as Colorado, Nevada, Canada, California and Arizona compete for the coveted #1 plate. “It’s heading up to be an exciting season, and we’re looking forward to it,” Brand reflected.
