UtahSBA: Kory Cowan Goes Undefeated At Utah Motorsports Campus

UtahSBA: Kory Cowan Goes Undefeated At Utah Motorsports Campus

© 2019, Roadracing World Publishing, Inc. From a press release issued By James Krstich on behalf of UtahSBA:.

Round Three of Utah Sport Bike Association Law Tigers Masters of the Mountains Road Racing series was held on July 13-14 at Utah Motorsports Campus West Configuration in Grantsville, UT. Racer Kory Cowan was victorious in the premier class as well as every race he entered throughout the weekend.

Cowan had this to say about his race weekend “Result-wise I had a pretty good weekend. Despite the intense heat, I went five for five on wins in my classes, which is awesome, but the best part is seeing Moto Station riders sweep the podium in all our races. I was hoping we would get into the 1:30s this weekend but considering the temps were right around 100 degrees, I’m pretty happy with the low 1:31s which is a credit to how well the Pirelli tires perform.”

In a brief return to racing, Shane Turpin rode to victory in two races. Shane retired from the UtahSBA two years ago but rode on Sunday on a borrowed bike. “Special thanks to Kory Cowan and MotoStation for setting me up with an amazing motorcycle that was dialed and super-fast. Thanks to the UtahSBA for hosting a great event where riders of all skill levels can compete in a professional environment,” said Turpin.

Our 2018 New Race School (NRC) student Kellen Birch took his first Expert Class victory winning Middleweight superstock, as well as Combined GTO and Combined GTU. Kellen has this to say “Round 3 went great! I have an awesome team with Trackstar Racing. Ian, Ryan, and Genaro have been huge in helping with bike setup, Dunlop tires, and Ken Hill podcasts playing on a loop all season. Huge thanks to Brian Childree and Jerry Hicks for hosting the Advanced Racer Course (ARC). I had a few great battles with my teammate James Powelson, who also found a lot of speed this round. I had a great weekend and love our UtahSBA family! I am looking forward to round 4!”

Genaro Lopez, with his ever-present pit crew watching on, rode to victory in Stock 1000. “Stock 1000 was the class where I clinched my first win of the year in round three. That made me the happiest man ever! After the hard time I’ve been having to learn this bike, I can’t thank Shane Turpin enough for all his help getting my bike settled. Running 1:32s felt great, but we still have a lot of stuff to work on. Huge thanks to my family, friends and sponsors, their support is incredible,” said Lopez.

Round 4 will be held August 24-25, 2019 at UMC, East Configuration. Registration is open now for this event. Register before August 17, 2019 to receive the early-bird discount rate for race Round 4. Visit www.motorsportsreg.com to register today.
