Motorcyclists at the eighth Utah Ride for Kids raised $47,012 for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation (PBTF) on Saturday, Aug. 11. They did it to help kids like Zoe, Sada, Jim, Lynzi, Brayden, Kyler, Daniel, Kimberly, and Holli fight the deadliest form of childhood cancer. These young people were the stars of a ride that went from This Is the Place Heritage Park in Salt Lake City through Emigration Canyon to Riverside Park in Morgan. Having the support of Ride for Kids means a great deal to families, said Zoe’s mom, April. “We are grateful for all of you supporting these kids and all the great doctors,” she told the crowd of 150. One of those doctors, pediatric oncologist Carol Bruggers, also expressed gratitude. “Better surgical techniques have helped improve kids’ lives,” she said. “Families and kids are able to live and thrive thanks to your efforts, energy and perseverance.” Top fundraisers at the event were: Individuals: Walt and Donna Young $6,113 Motorcycle club/chapter: GWRRA NV-H, $9,198 Motorcycle business: Fifth Gear $9,448 Special organization: Brian Miller and the Miller Family, $25,000 Dennis Price won the drawing for the Honda motorcycle. Other prizes went to DiAnne Harter (AGV helmet); Peggy Moss (Dunlop tire); Steph McDade (Tourmaster luggage); and Melissa Bertuzzi (Cardo Scala Rider).
