Jeremy Toye and Jimmy Wood won usually by a margin averaging more than a second a lap every race the pair of Lee’s Cycle-backed riders entered in WERA West competition Sunday, August 23 at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California.

Riding his Dunlop-shod CBR1000RR, Toye won the six-lap A Superbike race by more than 11 seconds over Brant Wiwi and Eddie Barajas, both on Suzuki GSX-R1000s. Toye also took the six-lap Formula One win by a full 16 seconds over Suzuki GSX-R1000-mounted Jeffrey Havlik and Barajas.

Wood then cruised to an 11.9-second margin of victory over Kawasaki ZX-6R-mounted Wiwi in C Superstock.

2008 Red Bull AMA U.S. Rookies Cup Champion Benny Solis Jr. took his Moriwaki MD250H to the D Superbike win. Kids: Don’t Smoke! Racing/Roadracingworld.com Kawasaki’s Elena Myers took her Kawasaki ZX-6R to the B Superbike win, and Austin DeHaven won the B Superstock race.

Two Boys, One Girl, Five Expert Class Wins at Fontana on Pirelli

(Plus an All-New Tire Shape Shows Up)

Fontana, California: Jimmy Wood led the Pirelli Diablo domination at California Speedway during the WERA West races, with three wins in Expert classes on Pirelli’s racing tires. Wood earned these wins in A Superstock EX, C Superstock EX, and C Superbike EX.

Adding to Wood’s wins are those of Kawasaki rider Elena Myers in B Superbike EX, and Austin DeHaven in B Superstock EX.

Did we say domination? Each race mentioned above had at least two Pirelli riders on the podium, with C Superbike and C Superstock each won by Pirelli riders five times over; each of those races had five Pirelli riders owing the top five positions, in exactly the same order for each race: 1 Jimmy Wood, 2 Brant Wiwi, 3 Elena Myers, 4 Austin DeHaven, 5 Patrick McCord.

Testing the all-new, all-wild, all-grip 190/60/17 Pirelli Superbike Slick, Derek Keyes finished 4th in Formula1 on a stock Kawasaki ZX-10, against a field of modified racebikes.

Pirelli Tire North America designs, develops, manufactures, and markets tires for passenger vehicles in both the original equipment and replacement markets, as well as marketing tires for motorcycles and race cars. Located in Rome, Georgia, Pirelli’s Modular Integrated Robotized System (MIRS) employs state-of-the-art technology to manufacture tires for both export and domestic markets. More, from a press release issued by Phil Hartl:

The 125GP WERA West race at Autoclub Speedway at Fontana on August 23 provided a great battle between Benny Taylor and Lex Hartl, first and second in the points, respectively, for the West Coast Championship in the class.

Benny Solis was first to the corner on his MD250H followed by Lex Hartl and Ben Taylor on their Honda RS125s. Lex and Ben T. passed Solis in the back straight on their two-stroke machines in the first lap, with Lex out in front at the first lap. Lex held the lead through lap two with Ben T. close behind. In lap three Ben T. drafted Lex beautifully into turn 1, with the two side by side as they tipped into the dramatic turn one, where Ben T. took the lead. Now Lex held on in second, the two boys pushing each other through the AMA course.

In the final lap Lex executed turn 1 with aplomb closing the gap further. Then in the final turn Lex had better drive on the exit and crossed the line a tire length ahead of Ben T. for the win. Benny Solis came in third on his MD250H and Oaks fourth on his RS125, stepping up his game. After the race the boys exhibited great sportsmanship congratulating each other. (Is it coincidence that Ben Solis of EBA Racing tuned the engine on the top four bikes?) They all look forward to the final round at Vegas–a town where anything can happen.
