Team Roadracingworld.com Suzuki’s Chris Ulrich, the ninth-place finisher in the 2006 Repsol Lubricants AMA Superstock Championship, in association with Fastrack Riders Association (FRA), will be holding a unique fundraising event November 25-26 at California Speedway, in Fontana, Calif. In exchange for a cash donation, which will be split between the recovery effort of AMA racer Vincent Haskovec (who suffered paralyzing spinal injuries when he crashed into an unprotected barrier during an AMA race in 2005) and the Roadracing World Action Fund (a non-profit organization which advocates and promotes the use of soft barriers to prevent racetrack injuries), Ulrich will take donors for a couple of fast laps around California Speedway’s 2.3-mile, 21-turn infield road course on the back of his Pirelli-slick-shod, 180-horsepower, 198-mph GSX-R1000 racebike, which has been fitted with a passenger seat and foot rests. Ulrich normally uses the retired racebike as an outreach tool during the race season, giving rides on the racetrack to local mainstream media representatives prior to AMA Championship events to help them better understand the sport of motorcycle road racing. Prior to the Suzuki Superbike Challenge Weekend earlier this year at California Speedway, Ulrich gave rides to newspaper reporter Leonor Vivanco; Demondrae “5-cent” Jones, an on-air personality with 99.1 KGGI-FM; and Gayle Anderson, a reporter with the Morning News on WB affiliate KTLA. Last November, Ulrich and FRA put together a similar fundraiser and, without any publicity, over $1700 was raised for Haskovec’s recovery from the donations of 26 guest riders. Ulrich’s Team Roadracingworld.com Suzuki and FRA have teamed up again to hold another ridealong fundraiser to benefit Haskovec and the Roadracing World Action Fund this Thanksgiving Day weekend. Gates for the FRA event open at approximately 6:45 a.m. each day, and rides on the two-seater will be available from approximately 9:00 a.m. until approximately 5:00 p.m. contingent on weather, the condition of the track, the condition of the bike, etc. Full professional riding gear will be provided on loan free of charge courtesy of FRA and Team Roadracingworld.com Suzuki, however, due to limited supplies, all sizes may not be available and not everyone will be able to ride. All rides will be on a first-come, first-served basis. No reservations are required. The minimum donation amount will be $25. Larger donations will earn additional laps. Photos of each rider will be made available, if possible, for an extra donation. The past two auctions raised over $5,000 each year with the goal in 2006 to raise more than $10,000 with all proceeds going to the RoadRacing World Action Fund. Chris Ulrich will be there with support from the RoadRacing World and Fastrack Riders staff on the RoadRacing World Two Up Superbike. Helmets, leathers, boots, and gloves are available so anyone can participate. The cost is $25.00 for two laps and $10.00 for each additional lap or anything above those amounts a participant wishes to contribute. Chris will be there both days and will be set up on the hot pit lane. All participants must sign both a California Speedway and RoadRacing World waiver form. This ride is better than anything any amusement park has to offer as quite often Chris will drag a knee with the passenger on the back of the bike! People interested in making a cash donation can go on line to www.fastrackriders.com and click on the registration page. They can contribute as little as $10.00 with increments up to $500. Multiple donations can be made in a given amount category if desired. For check donations Make checks payable to: Road Racing World Action Fund Mail to: Fastrack Riders P.O.
