West Nyack, New York (July 29, 2008)–AMA’s promising team, Celtic Racing, has added Kenny Noyes to its entries for Mid-Ohio (August 1-3) and VIR (August 15-17). These select events shall be complimentary for both rider and the team. Kenny Noyes, an American Road Racer who has been shining in Spain and currently sitting 5th in points for the Spanish CEV Championship is no stranger on the AMA circuit. Over the past few years he has raced select events in the Superbike Championships. He has also a solid record of performance in Flat Track by winning the Formula USA Championship on a Husaberg during his rookie year in 2000. Celtic Racing formed in 1999 has been instrumental in showcasing top talent in the USGPRU and AMA Superbike Championships. Earlier in the season, Michael Barnes finished 6th at the season opener at Daytona. Alastair Seeley took a Celtic ride for Road America and finished 9th and 10th in Superbike and a 4th in Superstock. In 2007, Celtic’s premier rider, Chaz Davies, finished an impressive sixth in the Formula Extreme rankings, while his best finish was a third at Mid-Ohio. ” While overseas with PJ Jacobsen, I was privileged to see a few CEV events and was impressed by Kenny’s skill . I offered him our fast machines for the events over here. He was equally happy about the opportunity,” notes Celtic Racing’s team owner Barry Gilsenan. Noyes will run both Superbike and Superstock at the said events, the team is positive for a favorable outcome. Celtic Racing will finish out the season this year and carry this momentum of competition for a full program in 2009. And now, a comment from a reader: FIRST PERSON/OPINION Via e-mail: I read with amusement the press release put out today by Jennifer Sierzega on behalf of Celtic Racing. Apparently Ms. Sierzega is unaware of an accomplishment by Celtic’s premier rider, Chaz Davies, that is even more impressive than his sixth place finish in last year’s Formula Extreme season points. In my humble observation this accomplishment is even more impressive than the third place ride Chaz put in last year at Mid-Ohio. Yes, I am talking about Chaz Davies winning this year’s Daytona 200″¦ ~http://www.amaproracing.com/prorace/raceres/rr/epoints.asp?cls=fe&snct=p8200&year=2008~ Greg Bouwens Seattle, Washington Now, a comment on the comment: FIRST PERSON/OPINION Via e-mail: I have read with interest that Kenny Noyes is coming over for the Mid Ohio and VIR races. This will be the first time Kenny has ridden in the United States with a solid road racing team. His 2006 rides were on an uncompetitive, basically stock R1. I look forward to seeing what a top Spanish 1000cc FX rider does against the AMA Superstock regulars. But I don´t understand the reader´s criticism of the team press release . Obviously the Celtic Racing press officer would be wrong to try and take credit for Chaz Davies´ win at Daytona since Chaz was riding for another team then. What I like about Celtic Racing is that they bring new riders from abroad like Chaz Davies from Great Britain, like Alastair Seeley from Ireland and like Kenny Noyes from Spain. The fact is that Chaz Davies got the Attack Kawasaki ride due to the effort that Celtic Racing made to get him on good machinery the year before. If they had tried to boast of Davies´ results when he won Daytona for Attack Kawasaki, that would have been out of order, so the criticism of the Celtic Racing press release is unjustified and Celtic Racing should be praised for bringing new blood into the AMA mix.
