Three USGPRU 125GP riders were involved in an accident while on their way from Arkansas to compete in the AMA National weekend event at Miller Motorsports Park, UT. Scott Thompson, Tony Wang, and Thomas Bohm were driving west-bound through Wyoming when a gust of wind sent their trailer into an oscillation that caused Thompson to lose control of his tow vehicle. The borrowed trailer was totaled and all of their race gear was strewn across both lanes of the interstate, causing the complete shutdown of the west-bound traffic. Thompson wasn’t injured, but Wang and Bohm were transported to the hospital. Wang sustained a few broken ribs and Bohm had to have glass removed from his arm. In fine racer fashion, Thompson rented a box van, gathered up all the pieces and parts he could find, picked up his other riders, and headed to the track. They weren’t about to let something like an accident stop them from competing in the first USGPRU event run in conjunction with the AMA National.
