This Press Release Is Way Too Late, But He Has Good Excuses…

From a press release issued by Team Stargel Aprilia, with a personal note from Rocky Stargel himself explaining its lateness:

The note explaining late arrival of the release–In the last 10 days here we have had an earthquake, a major electrical storm that took out my phone system & internet router, plus we have had tornadoes the last two days. I might be late, but give me points for persistance! If you dont want to run it that’s fine, I just felt that I needed to send out an update for our sponsors.

The press release itself–Team Stargel Aprilia Makes Third Podium Appearance at Infineon Raceway

Round three of the 2003 AMA 250GP season traveled to Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California. The first two days of the event were cancelled due to rain. The 250s finally started their first official practice session on Sunday morning. With the race scheduled for noon on Sunday, there was practically no time to make necessary adjustments to the bike.

Team Stargel Aprilia rider, Chuck Sorensen, had many family and friends in attendance as this is his home track. They were hoping that Sorensen could repeat the thrilling victory that he had at the track in 2002. Sorensen hung very close early on, with his time on lap three (1:39.910) only .008 seconds behind the best time of the eventual winner. Unfortunately, a poor setting with the rear suspension and a crippling arm pump problem forced Sorensen’s pace to fade. He managed to hold on to his second place position, and notched his third second place finish of the season.

The team is excited about round four, to be held at their home track of Road Atlanta. Sorensen won this round in 2002 and 2003 should prove to be just as exciting.

Team Stargel Aprilia would like to welcome two new sponsors, GPC Moto and Hansen’s Energy Drink.

Team Stargel Aprilia would like to thank the supporters who make their efforts possible: Aprilia USA, Aprilia Italy, Dunlop, Scuderia West, VP Racing Fuels, Castrol, EBC Brakes, Shoei, Regina Chains, Ohlins USA, Helimot, Motion Pro, Hansen’s Energy Drink, Daytona Boots, Fox Racing, BRC Racing, Razor’s Edge Motorsports, GPC Moto, Smith Sport and TC’s Specialized Graphics.
