From a press release issued by West Coast GP Cycles: West Coast GP Cycles Opens WSMC Season Atop The Podium West Coast GP Cycles welcomed its new sponsors aboard and kicked off the 2008 season at Willow Springs with a trio of wins in sunny, blustery conditions. Riding a Pirelli-shod, Track Daz-backed Suzuki SV650, West Coast GP Cycles’ Andy Palmer won the Formula Twins Lightweight race which the shop sponsors and the 550 Superbike event. Up-and-coming Drew Price, who recently celebrated his 17th birthday, took second in 550cc Superbike and third in Formula Twins Lightweight. Chris Rogers, on another of the shop-prepared SVs, took fourth in both races. Palmer and Price also impressed in the Middleweight Twins race, finishing second and fourth on their SVs in a field that included Ducati 749s. Michael Gougis, riding a West Coast GP Cycles-tuned, Twin Works Factory-built Suzuki SV500 on Dunlops, took the win in Lightweight Twins. And George Beavers took a West Coast GP Cycles-backed Yamaha RD400 to a win in the 2 Stroke Production class, besting a field that included a pair of RZ350s and an Aprilia Cup racer.
