Team Honda Racing is pleased to announce their riders for the 2012 season. #27 Jamie Stauffer and #47 Wayne Maxwell will take to the grid on the new model Honda CBR1000RR in the Australian Superbike Championship in what is set to be their strongest season to date. The development of Paul Free’s race team during the 2011 season as they re-entered the Honda family on the CBR1000RR was significant with 6 Superpole wins, 5 race wins and 3 overall Round wins. Stauffer finished his season in 2nd place and Maxwell in 4th thus both riders are extremely motivated to get back on the race track. Maxwell is happy to be moving into a new season with the same team and believes the consistency will bring even greater strength to Team Honda Racing in 2012. Maxwell: “Team Honda Racing is definitely going to be strong next season and to be riding on the new Honda CBR1000RR alongside Jamie will be awesome. We work really well together and the team is strong so after a good break over Christmas I know the New Year will be a really positive one for Team Honda Racing. I have never been more determined to claim the Superbike title and I know I will have everything I need in the 2012 package to do so. Hopefully, Jamie and I can make it 1st and 2nd throughout 2012. I know which position I plan to be in, we will just have to see what unfolds.” Signing for his 3rd consecutive season with the Motologic-prepared team, his 2nd on the CBR1000RR Stauffer is looking to add to his resume of championship wins having won multiple Australian titles in both Superbike and Supersport in years past. Having come 2nd in the championship in 2011 only fuels the Newcastle rider’s determination to take the Honda to the top step of the podium in 2012. Stauffer: “I am really excited to be riding for Team Honda Racing in 2012 and to be starting the season on the new Honda CBR1000RR is fantastic. The development during the 2011 season has brought some great results, but I’m really keen to start testing the new model and see what it brings to the race track for 2012. Paul (Free) has hinted that there are some very valuable changes in the new CBR1000RR so it will be great to get it out on the race track and get the new season going.” Team Principle Paul Free is more than satisfied with the look of the 2012 ASBK Season for Team Honda Racing. Free: “The 2012 team will be the strongest I’ve had for a few years and I am extremely positive by the prospect of what lies ahead. I am really pleased that both Wayne and Jamie re-signed for 2012 as they are 2 of the best riders in the country. They worked extremely hard throughout 2011 and I know they will be strong from the first event on the new CBR1000RR. I have strengthened the team structure somewhat by contracting a new crew chief for Jamie. Bryan Divilly has worked with Jamie before and has already spent some time at Motologic to familiarize himself with the Team Honda Racing set-up. Wayne will continue to work with Shaun Clarke as his crew chief for the 2nd year running. They have built a solid relationship which will continue to strengthen. With the changes I’ve made to the team structure I know it puts Team Honda Racing in a very strong position to enter the championship.” Sharing in the enthusiasm is General Manager of Honda Motorcycles, Tony Hinton who expressed his eagerness to see the team in action in 2012. Hinton: “Honda Australia is very pleased that Wayne and Jamie have re-signed for 2012, having this consistency allows the team to start working on the 2012 season with a huge advantage. We are confident that the Team Honda riders will be challenging each other for the title in 2012.”
