When the Swann Insurance Australasian Superbike Championship (ASC) heads to Mallala on the 16-18 of May, the track is set to scream into action after more than five years of the championship having not visited the venue.

The Mallala Raceway has been well known in the road racing industry for years and has been described as one of the most fondly spoken about racetracks in Australia.

Mallala Raceway is expected to host more than 100 talented road racers when the championship tears into South Australia from 16-18 May.

Series Promoter Terry O’Neill shared his excitement, describing Mallala Raceway as a real treat.

“One of the things that blows me away about this track is that it is the single track that most competitors over the last five years, have asked me if we will go to,” he said.

“Mallala is fondly thought of by a lot of racers from around the country, and also team managers.

“People from Adelaide who come out to watch will see some of the most exciting racing they’ve seen.

“Mallala will lend itself to tight, close and exciting racing as it always does.”

For the busy Mallala Raceway, the ASC is another high profile event that has made the decision to utilize their world-class facilities this year.

Venue Manager Clem Smith commented on how excited the raceway is to be hosting the championship in May.

“We are very happy for Terry O’Neill to be bringing the ASC to Mallala this year,” he said.

“The venue is looking beautiful, we look after it very well, and it is going to be perfect for the event.

“Mallala has missed the championship over the last five years so it’s great to see someone running the event at this venue again.”

The Swann Insurance Australasian Superbike Championship will head to Mallala Raceway from 16-18 May 2014.
