Two-time AMA Pro Superbike Championship runner-up Blake Young, 1993 500cc Grand Prix World Champion Kevin Schwantz and 1993 AMA Pro 750cc Supersport Champion Britt Turkinton teaming up to do CMRA’s The 8 Hours of Texas endurance race this weekend at Texas World Speedway, in College Station, Texas. “I actually just pulled into Texas World Speedway,” Schwantz said when contacted by Roadracingworld.com Friday. “We’re going to do some track time today, get some practice and do the eight-hour tomorrow.” Schwantz said his team will race as Davis Rod & Cycle on a Suzuki GSX-R600 that he pulled from his Schwantz School fleet. “We got some suspension stuff from Öhlins, got some rearsets from Attack Performance. We’re gonna put some Dunlop tires on it and go ride around and have fun,” said Schwantz. “I wanted to let Blake see what Texas World is all about. He’s said all he’s heard is stories about it.” Schwantz added that his team will have a fourth rider, CMRA racer Jesse Davis, who prepared the motorcycle. The race is scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m. local time Saturday, March 23. For more information, go to www.cmraracing.com.
