BIG RIDE FOR KIDS WEEKEND TOPS $196,000 Motorcyclists in three states did their part to combat childhood brain tumors by bringing $196,407 in donations to Ride for Kids events on Aug. 4. Fifteen young brain tumor survivors attended the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation events on mild, sunny mornings in Central Valley, N.Y., Cranberry Township, Pa., and Middleton, Wis. “I want to thank all of these motorcyclists for coming out and supporting me and my family. I love coming here and seeing so many bikes. It’s awesome,” said Zachary, an 8-year-old Star from Pittsburgh. Making life better for these Ride for Kids Stars is the reason motorcyclists across the country ride for the PBTF, which funds medical research and family support programs to help eliminate the challenges of childhood brain tumors. The events featured local celebrity emcee appearances, motorcycle parades, catered meals and more. All three events will continue to collect donations online at www.rideforkids.org. Fundraisers will receive incentive credit through Sept. 4. ABOUT RIDE FOR KIDS Ride for Kids is now in its 30th year of raising awareness and funds for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. These fun-filled, family-friendly motorcycle rides take place in more than 40 cities across the country. More than 28,000 people in the United States are living with the diagnosis of a childhood brain tumor, and 11 more cases are identified each day. Motorcyclists have helped the PBTF become the world’s largest non-governmental source of funding for childhood brain tumor research. Our programs also include free educational information about brain tumors, Internet conferences and college scholarships. American Honda is the presenting sponsor of Ride for Kids. Other supporters include GEICO, Bell Helmets and Cycle World magazine. Register online at www.rideforkids.org or call 800-253-6530 to learn more.
