(July 28, 2009) Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca officials today announced July 23-25, 2010 will be the dates for the sixth annual Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix, featuring the MotoGP World Championship. “We are pleased with the new date and this should be great for the community,” said Gill Campbell, CEO/general manager for Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. “The 2009 event had everything from Yamaha Legends in SuperKarts, the Mayor announcing July 5th as Valentino Rossi Day and competitive racers from all over the world that our fans can expect even more in 2010.” Dorna’s CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta adds: “During the past five years, our relationship with Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca has proved to be a significant and reliable partner for MotoGP with lots of fan interest in the MotoGP World Championship.” The 2010 race marks the sixth consecutive visit for MotoGP teams and riders to the historic Monterey circuit and switches to a later weekend in July. The date for the event is tentative, subject to the release of the full FIM calendar in September. Tickets for the event go on sale this October. Premier/Reserved camping and hospitality tickets go on sale October 21 at 8:00 a.m. PST by phone only at (800) 327-7322, while all other tickets general admission, grandstand, paddock, parade lap and parking go on sale October 26 by phone or at www.mazdaraceway.com. Renewal forms will be sent to current Premiere/Reserved camping and hospitality customers in August. Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca was established in 1957. The world-renowned raceway has been operated since its inception by the Sports Car Racing Association of the Monterey Peninsula (SCRAMP), a not-for-profit 501C(4) corporation. Each race season, SCRAMP donates its net proceeds to the volunteer groups that help put on the races.
