The online auction of a set of Joe Rocket race leathers worn by Kawasaki factory rider Roger Hayden has raised $1275 for the Roadracing World Action Fund, which advocates and promotes the use of soft barriers to prevent racetrack injuries, and provides education on the value of adequate pre-race practice, rider training, and proper racetrack preparation. The auction, which began January 27 and ended today at approximately 4:00 p.m. Pacific Time, was won by Tom Snyder of Lodi, California. “As I’ve followed those boys (brothers Tommy, Nicky and Roger Hayden), they’ve always been real accommodating to me. They’re real nice boys,” said Snyder, who used to cover flat track racing in the Midwest for a small motorcycle newspaper in the late-1990s and already owns the Honda Nicky Hayden rode to win the Peoria TT AMA flat track National in 2002. “The cause for this auction is as important as anything. Can I split the money half and half between road racing and flat track racing? The flat track guys seem to be coming up a little bit short on donations.” For more information about the Roadracing World Action Fund, go to: ~http://actionfund.roadracingworld.com/~
