By John Ulrich According to a local news report, VIR’s legal team has not served AMA Pro Racing with a lawsuit filed on behalf of the track July 5th; doesn’t intend to serve or pursue the suit; and is seeking an amicable solution to its dispute with AMA Pro Racing. Insiders say that Roadracing World’s coverage of the dispute influenced the track’s decision–particularly the revelation that in December 2010 track principal Connie Nyholm signed a deal outline agreeing to promote the now-canceled 2011 AMA Pro Superbike National under terms based on the 2010 event sanction agreement between the track and AMA Pro Racing. Sources say the revelation also caused the track to abandon plans for a series of media interviews, in which Nyholm had hoped to promote the version of reality contained in the suit and VIR press releases.
