KERSHAW, S.C. Carolina Motorsports Park announced today a new management team. Brian Smith and Jochen Tartak will be taking over for the retiring Mickey Clyburn who has managed the race track since its inception. Smith and Tartak are professional drivers and instructors with 25-plus years of experience in the motorsports industry, in both the performance and marketing sides of the racing world. The new management has an aggressive five-year plan which will include the development of a motorsports country club as an integral part of the expansion and new direction for Carolina Motorsports Park. More information about the Carolina Motorsports Park’s country club will be announced in the coming weeks. There will be no immediate changes in current operations and offerings to clientele, only additions to the existing successful business structure. The track’s current clientele includes organizations such as the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA), National Auto Sport Association (NASA), Porsche Club of America (PCA), BMW Car Club Of America (BMWCCA), WERA, NESBA, CCS, AHRMA as well as teams who compete in NASCAR, Champ Car, ALMS, Grand AM, Koni Challenge and World Challenge, who use the track for testing. Carolina Motorsports Park was designed by famed track designer Alan Wilson and built in 1999 by a group of investors led by Bob Humphreys and Joe Hooker. Carolina Motorsports Park is a 2.235-mile 14-turn road course located in Kershaw, S.C. about 65 miles south of Charlotte, N.C.
