The Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum invites collectors, restorers and preservation-minded enthusiasts to attend the country’s largest by-invitation-only showcase of classic and collectible motorcycles. The Museum’s 5th annual Hall of Fame Concours d’Elegance, scheduled for Saturday, October 7, 2006 in conjunction with the Motorcycle Hall of Fame Induction weekend, is a juried show and only the most compelling original or painstakingly restored antique and vintage motorcycles are invited to participate. Last year, over 100 exceptional motorcycles spanning all eras and marques vied for trophies and honors. One must-see motorcycle this year will be the 1947 Triumph T100 belonging to David Edwards of Cycle World. An entry in the Customs & Specials class, the machine is a tribute bike, built in remembrance of Indy racing legend Bill Vukovich. Vukovich won the Indianapolis 500 in 1953 and 1954. He was killed in an accident during the 1955 Indianapolis 500. The 1947 Triumph features “ram’s horn” exhausts, a Wassell gas tank, chromed fork shrouds, gorgeous red and gray paint and Indy pit badges. Another machine sure to draw attention will be Denis Manning’s BUB No. 7 streamliner on display due to its owner’s induction on October 7. On September 7, 2006 Chris Carr piloted the streamliner to a new absolute land speed world record at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. Carr averaged 350.884 MPH over two passes. The fastest machine on two wheels will be on display as a special entry at Concours d’Elegance. All other entries will be judged in the following categories: . American to 1953 . American 1954-1975 . British to 1964 . British 1965-1975 . European to 1975 . Japanese to 1970 . Japanese 1971-1975 . Competition to 1969 . Competition 1970-1975 .
