MotoGP To Be Broadcast Live On Free-To-Air TV In New Zealand

Free-to-air newcomer Sommet Sports has secured an agreement with Dorna Sports S.L for exclusive rights to broadcast live the remaining events from the 2013 season of the FIM MotoGP™ World Championship, in New Zealand. Launching on Freeview in July, Sommet Sports will carry live coverage of every remaining round of the Championship including races from the Moto2™ and Moto3™ categories and the premiere MotoGP class, starting with the eni Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland at Sachsenring on 14th July. Sommet Sports’ General Manager Mr Mark Cathie says he is thrilled to make the channel the new home of motorcycle racing’s premier Championship. “MotoGP has some of the most die-hard sports fans in New Zealand and we’ll be pulling out all the stops to make sure they’re not disappointed. This announcement will be great news for all the fans following MotoGP in New Zealand”, Mr Cathie says. Mr Cathie says Sommet Sports was established to bring live sporting events back to the living rooms of all New Zealand households. “Live premium sport used to be something all New Zealanders watched and enjoyed together. We think it’s been missing from too many homes for too long.“ “We’re looking forward to making more big announcements we know will please sports fans in the near future”, Mr Cathie says.
