With the arrival of the MotoGP World Championship in Europe, PETRONAS Sepang Racing Team presented their new hospitality area at the Spanish Grand Prix last weekend. The spectacular facility, notable for its large dimensions and fresh image, will be present at every European round this season and will be a meeting point for team members, sponsors, guests and journalists. It is based around a unique concept, taking a piece of Malaysia around the twelve events held in Europe.

It took nine months to make the structure a reality, adding to the logistics of the three teams – PETRONAS Yamaha SRT in MotoGP and PETRONAS Sprinta Racing in Moto2 and Moto3. Some five trailers are needed to construct it: Two of them used as the base and the other three transport the structure and contents. One trailer forms a large kitchen area, while a second houses management offices and meeting rooms. In total, the built unit is 15 metres wide, 13.5 metres long and 5 metres high.

Inside the facility, the hospitality area covers 130m2, accommodating a total of 86 people (seated). It can hold the 47 team members, plus the average of 250 guests who drop in during a Grand Prix weekend. There is also a 50m2 mezzanine level Sprinta Lounge.

Six team members, including two chefs, ensure that guests enjoy a unique experience in the MotoGP paddock with the PETRONAS Sepang Racing Team. Visitors have the opportunity to taste the most typical dishes in Malaysian cuisine: Teh Tarik, Satay or Nasi Impit.

One of the characteristics that makes this hospitality area special is the exhibition of six Galeri PETRONAS art pieces in the Sprinta Lounge, the perfect place to take in the beauty of the artwork with a cup of Caffe Giacomelli.

Razlan Razali – Team Principal

“We were pleased to present our brand new hospitality unit recently at Jerez, Spain. This is our home at the track for European races and a key facility for the team to present itself and entertain our title partner, PETRONAS, our sponsors and also for networking. MotoGP is a multi-million business so it is important for us to have a professional working environment to conduct our business. We are racing in MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3 so our hospitality will be a focal point for our riders and crews across these categories. As throughout our entire racing project, our track home harnesses many ingredients of Malaysian culture and we are proud to offer warm and open hospitality to all our guests and friends.”

Noor Afiza Mohd Yusof – General Manager, Brand Management Department, Group Strategic Communications PETRONAS

“PETRONAS is committed to its MotoGP project and we are proud to see the team motorhome come to life after a tireless effort by the staff at PETRONAS and Sepang Racing Team. This facility complements the liveries of our MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3 bikes. A perfect contact point for interested parties and customers, this motorhome showcases Malaysian culture through cuisine, art and hospitality, making it a unique motorhome in the paddock.”
