Wildcards banned for 2027 in MotoGP, wildcards for MotoGP 850cc machinery banned for 2026, and more updates confirmed by the Grand Prix Commission.

The Grand Prix Commission met throughout March and April 2026, with some updates to the regulations approved for immediate application and others set to come into force in 2027.

One is a ban on wildcards in the MotoGP class, regardless of a manufacturer’s rank, which will be effective from 2027.

Wildcards with 850cc machinery – ahead of the regulation changes in 2027 – have also been banned in the MotoGP class for 2026. So that means we won’t see any of the new era of machinery on track to race this season.
