Road America Is Next Up For The Yamaha bLU cRU This Weekend

Cypress, CA – May 31, 2017 – Round Four of the 2017 MotoAmerica AMA/FIM North American Road Racing Championship is this weekend at Road America in Elkhart Lake, WI, and the 4.05-mile, 14-turn natural road course is a favorite stop for the Yamaha bLU cRU teams and racers.

Not only did two-time and defending MotoAmerica Superbike Champion Cameron Beaubier get the double win aboard his #1 Yamaha YZF-R1 at Road America last year, but bLU cRU riders have notched a total of 35 race victories in just the past seven years alone.

Cameron is currently in second-place in the 2017 points standings and just 10 points out of the Championship lead, with lots of racing left in the season. The Roseville, California, rider is looking forward to racing at one of his favorite tracks this weekend.

“I’m ready to get on track at Road America,” Cameron commented. “My R1 and I have had a pretty good record there over the past couple of years, and it’s one of my favorite racetracks in the U.S.”

Four-time Superbike Champion Josh Hayes also loves Road America, and he’s won a total of eight Superbike races at “America’s National Park of Speed.”

“It’s really good to be coming fresh off a win at the last race to a track that I enjoy racing at so much,” said Josh. “I’ve had some of my best rides, and some amazing battles down the long straightaways and through the heavy braking zones, at Road America. It’s also important to do well at what is the home track for several of the guys on my crew. So, look for me to be ‘sending it’ this week!”

Superbike Superpole (Qualifying) is on Saturday at 11:30 AM CST, Superbike Race 1 will go green on Saturday at 3:30 PM CST, and Superbike Race 2 is on Sunday at 3:30 PM CST.

Monster Energy/Yamalube/Yamaha Extended Service/Graves/Yamaha: Gerloff & Beach

Defending MotoAmerica Supersport Champion Garrett Gerloff earned the pole at Road America last year, broke the Road America Supersport lap record in Saturday’s qualifying, and won Saturday’s Supersport Race 1. The Texan is looking to keep his string of success at Road America going this weekend aboard his #1 Monster Energy/Yamalube/Yamaha Extended Service/Graves/Yamaha YZF-R6.

“I’m excited to see all the great fans who come out for Road America,” Garrett said. “And, I’m also excited to race my 2017 R6 down those long straightaways at Road America. The new bike’s got some serious top speed, so it’s going to be super-fun!”

Garrett and his teammate JD Beach come into Road America at the top of the 2017 MotoAmerica Supersport Championship standings. Out of the five races held so far this season, Garrett has notched two wins, and JD also has two wins. Both riders have reached the podium in all five races so far this season, and Garrett currently leads the points standings by just four points over JD.

“Going into Road America is always a guessing game with the weather,” JD opined. “It’s one of the most-fun tracks we go to during the season and, when it’s dry, it’s just that much better. After everything the racing community has gone through with losing Nicky and other great racers this year, I’m looking forward to getting back to the track and being with my racing family.”

Supersport Qualifying at Road America is Saturday at 9:20 AM CST, Supersport Race 1 is scheduled for Saturday at 2:25 PM CST, and Supersport Race 2 will go green on Sunday at 2:25 PM CST.

And, the Fan Walk, scheduled for 12:40 to 1:40 PM Sunday on pit lane at Road America, is another great opportunity to meet Cameron, Josh, Garrett, and JD.
