Helicraft Racing heading to the United States

New Zealand Tourist Trophy-winning team Helicraft Racing is setting its sights on the United States to contest two rounds of the MotoAmerica Supersport series.

“I thought about it and thought about it, and it had to be done,” says team owner Rod Price from the squad’s base in Wanaka, deep in the South Island’s adventure playground region.

“Our MV Agusta 675 F3 has been air-freighted to San Francisco for the Laguna Seca round next month, and Sonoma in August.”

Team rider Australian Alex Phillis is fired up at the prospect of pitting himself against the best in the US.

“Alex is riding so well, as his results over the past couple of months have shown.

“For all sorts of reasons, this is the right time for us to venture abroad.”

As well as Rod and Alex, team technicians Dave “Radar” Cullen and Phil Purdue will be part of the US venture.

“MV Agusta US, Passerini Perfomance and Motul US have got behind us.”

But Rod says there is still fairing space available for any United States partners wanting to be associated with an iconic brand.

“This venture presents an ideal opportunity for a US company looking to establish links with New Zealand and Australia,” says Rod, adding, “Or maybe just some individuals who want to be involved in what we hope will be a special couple of weekends.”
