Full factory: rider visit prefaces a Triumphant new era

Hinckley is the destination for the pre-event on Wednesday as Triumph play host ahead of their 2019 Moto2™ debut

As the FIM MotoGP™ World Championship prepares to welcome Triumph as the exclusive engine supplier to Moto2™, it was time to get a glimpse of the future at the GoPro British Grand Prix. Heading for Hinckley, British Moto3™ rider John McPhee (CIP – Green Power) was joined by compatriots and intermediate class riders Sam Lowes (Swiss Innovative Investors) and Danny Kent (+Ego Speed Up Racing Team), as well as Luca Marini (Sky Racing Team VR46), Isaac Viñales (Forward Racing Team), Bo Bendsneyder (Tech3 Racing Team) and Joe Roberts (NTS RW Racing GP) for trip to the Triumph factory on Wednesday.

After getting a first look at the engine set to power Moto2™, the riders then took some photos alongside the 2019 prototype in the grounds of the factory. To finish the experience and, for some, their look at what 2019 will bring, the visit then also went behind the scenes of the legendary British marque for a tour of the incredible factory and facilities.

Then it was back to the track and time to get in gear for the GoPro British Grand Prix, with a host of events continuing the countdown. First it’s the British Talent Cup Selection Event for 2019, followed by the Day of Champions in aid of the Official Charity of MotoGP™, Two Wheels for Life, on Thursday. Then comes the pre-event Press Conference at 17:00 (GMT +1) on Thursday, before track actions begins on Friday from 9:00 (GMT +1). Don’t miss it!

Sam Lowes: “I’m really happy to be here, obviously being British it’s so nice to be at the factory. For me it’s really impressive the fact that they make many things in house, they build all their bikes by hand here in the factory which is impressive. It was nice to see the engine, we went on the dyno and heard the new bike for next year which is nice and yeah for me, it’s a great feeling, great to be here and yeah looking forward to next year.

“For me, being a British rider with a British engine, it’s nice to be part of the first season of Moto2 with the Triumph and I’m really happy and proud of that fact.”
