Sam Lowes will miss Jerez IRTA Test due to injury

The British rider suffered an injury to his right shoulder during a fall at this week’s private test at the Jerez-Angel Nieto circuit.

After the fall when testing at Jerez, Sam Lowes travelled to the Hospital Universitary Dexeus in Barcelona to carry out the relevant medical examinations. Doctor Xavier Mir established the following diagnosis:

Once the clinical, radiological and magnetic resonance examination was performed, it was confirmed the Englishman suffered a fracture and dislocation of the right shoulder. Specifically, the top of the humerus bone was fractured without displacement while the ligaments within the shoulder socket were ruptured.

The initial recovery period will consist of rest and treatment. Lowes will then undergo radiological and ultrasound control to assess his suitability to begin active recovery.

The 29-year-old is well, considering the unfortunate circumstances, and remains positive. He is keen to begin the recovery process so that he can return to work as soon as possible and give everything to Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS.

The estimated recovery time for this type of injury is around four weeks. However, Lowes’ on-track return will depend on the healing process.
