BRITISH young gun Luke Mossey will stand in for the injured Luca Marconi in the PTR Honda World Supersport team at this weekend’s eighth round of the World Supersport Championship at Moscow in Russia. Marconi suffered a broken arm at the last round of WSS at Imola in Italy and the injury has not recovered enough for him to race in Russia, so he has withdrawn from the event. Mossey is a podium finisher in British Supersport and at just 20 years-old has a promising future ahead of him in racing. Mossey said: “I can’t wait to get with the PTR team, I am so happy to be racing in Russia. This is my first time racing in WSS abroad, so my aim is to hopefully do a good job for the team and myself and see where it leads from there.” PTR Honda Team Manager Simon Buckmaster said: “Unfortunately we had very late news from Luca on Saturday that he cannot ride for us due to a broken arm. That said, we have managed to secure Luke Mossey, a young British rider who we have been watching for a couple of years. He is a good talent. “It is hard to step into WSS mid season with everyone up to speed but I am sure Luke will surprise people and put in a good performance – we are excited to see what he can achieve with PTR in Russia.” The eighth round of the World Supersport Championship is on Sunday 21st July at 1330 local time, with practice and qualifying sessions on the Friday and Saturday.
