Mini Moto Demonstrations Set For MotoAmerica

Future Stars To Demonstrate Their Skills At MotoAmerica Events

COSTA MESA, CA, MAR. 31 – If our future is in our youth, then the future of road racing will be on display at all of the 2016 MotoAmerica AMA/FIM North American Road Racing Championship rounds with Mini Moto demonstrations set for the race weekends, beginning next week with the opening round of the series at Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Texas.

AXcess Racing LLC, in a joint venture with MotoAmerica, will bring youth road racing into the spotlight on a National level. Select youngsters will have the opportunity to showcase their talents in the main paddock of the MotoAmerica races at COTA (Red Bull Grand Prix of The Americas – April 8-10), Road Atlanta (Suzuki Superbike Shootout of Georgia – April 15-17), New Jersey Motorsports Park (MotoAmerica Championship of New Jersey – April 27-May 1 and September 9-11), Virginia International Raceway (Mid-Atlantic MotoAmerica Superbike Championship – May 13-15), Road America (Honda Superbike Showdown of Wisconsin – June 3-5), Barber Motorsports Park (Honda Superbike Showdown of Alabama – June 10-12), Utah Motorsports Campus (MotoAmerica Championship of Utah – June 23-25), Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca (Honda Superbike Showdown of California) and the season finale back at NJMP. The New Jersey Mini Moto events will be run by NJ Mini GP.

The young road racers, aged 5-12, will be doing demonstrations on Saturday and Sunday of the MotoAmerica race weekends, riding motorcycles such as Honda NSR50s, NSF100s, Kayo 125s, XR50s, XR100s, and Kawasaki KLX110s. Additionally, AXcess Racing will field 14-year-old Jackson Blackmon in the 2016 MotoAmerica KTM RC Cup races.

“I think it’s awesome to see these kids getting a jump start on working on their road racing skills at a young age,” said three-time 500cc World Champion and MotoAmerica President Wayne Rainey. “I wish I would have had the chance to try road racing at a younger age, but those opportunities didn’t exist for me. I look forward to watching them show what they can do at our races and I think people will enjoy watching the demonstrations.”

The team at AXcess Racing includes owner Laura Ellis; Cam Morehead, who has been involved in youth road racing for over 14 years; and Mike Davis, who has joined the team to handle track-side logistics.
