World Supersport Round 3, Valencia, Spain Noyes low-sides out of the points in World Supersport at Valencia Riding a 600 Supersport for the first time in five years, Kenny Noyes qualified 18th, was 8th in the Sunday morning warm-up for the Spanish round of the World Supersport championship at Valencia, Spain. Filling in on the GMT94 Yamaha R6 for regular rider David Checa, who was racing at the 24 Hours of Le Mans that same weekend, Kenny was down in 24th place coming out of turn one. Over the next 11 laps he recovered nine places and was running 15th and still moving up when he low-sided out of the turn 6 left-hander on lap 12 of 23. “I think we may have made a mistake on the tire. It was cold and wet for most of practice and I never got a chance to do any runs longer than seven laps on the soft tire we used. When the sun came out just before the start the track temperature heated right up. I had had a couple of warnings but this time the back end just came around and I couldn´t save it,” said Kenny. “It was so different from riding the R1. I kept trying to use the lines from the big bike and giving up too much corner speed, but it was fun and I was enjoying it a lot. It was a slow crash but I broke the footpeg so I coudn´t continue.” This weekend Noyes will be back on his endurance spec R1 for the Six Hours of Albacete and a week later he´ll ride the R1 Formula Extreme bike in the opening round of the Spanish Nationals, also at Albacete.
