DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (January 16, 2009) – Eligible equipment lists for the 2009 AMA Pro American Superbike, AMA Pro Daytona SportBike and AMA Pro SuperSport divisions were posted this week on amaproracing.com. The lists, which will be continuously updated, are the results of AMA Pro’s recent Motorcycle Parts and Equipment Approval Application Process that the organization began from its Daytona Beach headquarters last year. The lists for each series include dozens of parts and equipment that are now approved and ready for the 2009 AMA Pro Road Racing season. All categories in each of the three lists require mandatory usage of the listed equipment but no limitations are in place as far as additional participation. Competitors are encouraged to contact a supplier or vendor that may have a product of interest as AMA Pro’s goal is to create parity in the parts procurement process. Although parts or equipment may not be used in AMA Pro competition without approval, any categories not listed are considered open and free to competitors. Participation as an approved eligible equipment supplier or vendor also requires a contingency posting in order to assist competing teams and provide additional exposure for the equipment and products being used in AMA Pro Road Racing events. Competitors are only eligible for contingency funds if they display the required three-square-inch decal for the products they are running. The 2009 AMA Pro Road Racing season will begin at Daytona International Speedway the first weekend in March. The weekend will be highlighted by the first Daytona 200 by Honda under the lights, Friday, March 6, for the AMA Pro Daytona SportBike division. The Daytona kick-off will also feature AMA Pro American Superbike competition and races for additional AMA Pro Road Racing championships. AMA Pro Racing is the premier professional motorcycle racing organization in North America, operating a full schedule of events and championships for a variety of motorcycle disciplines. From its Daytona Beach headquarters, the organization operates and manages AMA Pro Road Racing, which includes AMA Pro American Superbike, AMA Pro Daytona SportBike, AMA Pro SuperSport, AMA Pro SunTrust Moto-GT and the Red Bull AMA U.S. Rookies Cup in addition to the AMA Pro Flat Track Championship.
