Champion Eslick Tests New Öhlins FGK Fork Kit at Auto Club Speedway Hendersonville, North Carolina: The new Öhlins FGK 30mm fork kit was tested, with excellent results, at the AMA preseason testing at the Auto Club Speedway, in Fontana, California. Defending Daytona SportBike champion Danny Eslick tested the fork kit on his Geico Powersports RMR Suzuki GSX-R600, matching his best times of the two-day test, without any additional tuning. Öhlins USA Road Racing Manager Mike “Thermosman” Fitzgerald, who was on hand working with M4 Monster Suzuki and Geico Powersports RMR Suzuki during the two-day AMA test, said, “We fitted Danny’s bike with the FGK 208 fork kit right out of the box at the standard settings, and Danny was given marching orders to go out and tie them in a knot. Afterwards, you could tell by the smile on his face that he was very pleased.” Eslick said, “They are very, very good. Lap times don’t lie. The forks worked really well over the bumps and I had no problems on the brakes. Leave’em in and I’ll race the bike tomorrow.” The comparison was completed at the end of the two-day test at the Auto Club Speedway, and was made back-to-back with Danny’s race set up, in which his Geico Powersports RMR Suzuki is equipped with TTX Pressurized front forks. Eslick’s times during the two-day test were reported as consistently in the 1:28.0s. Thermosman” continued, “We asked Danny if he would be the guy to test our new product. After all, who better is there than the guy with the number-one plate on his bike? These Öhlins fork kits were straight out of the box. I wanted to make sure that the FGK 200-series would work as a drop-in kit, and now we know for certain that it will. I thank Richie Morris for loaning us Danny for the test, and Barry McMahan and Scott Harwell for preparing the bike.
