Franco Morbidelli and Italtrans together – Moto2 World Championship Just a few hours ago, Franco Morbidelli and Italtrans have reached an agreement. Franco will team up with Julian Simon in the Moto2 World Championship, riding a Italtrans’ Kalex machine. Morbidelli, 19 and a VR46 Riders Accademy member, lives in Tavullia (Italy). He’s the current European Champion, Super Stock 600. Franco Morbidelli: “It’s a dream that comes true. When I was a kid, the middle class – at that time 250cc, now Moto2 – was my favorite, and my target for the future. And here I am. The test done in autumn had a big say in it. The job done and the team spirit opened the door to a great relationship with Luigi and the guys. I want to thank them for believing in me. At the same time, I want to thank VR46 Riders Academy – all of the guys involved – that have done such a great job to allow me to be here. Thanks also to the Italian Federation, for all they did and still are doing to help me. With a top team and bike, I’ll will enjoy the season. I’m certain. I could not ask for more”. Luigi Pansera (Team Manager): “We are very happy with the deal. It’s a two-year agreement (2014-2015) and an option for one more season (2016). With Julian and Franco, we team up experience, energy, hope and trust. The first date will be in January, at the first test of the new season. We are optimistic”.
