With another of many innovations to the standard auction model, MCBA ’06 is encouraging early registration of prospective buyers by waiving registration fees for those who sign on by June 23rd, a savings of $250. In addition, registration has been streamlined with easy-to-use online forms. The second annual Monterey Classic Bike Auction takes place July 20-22 at the Portola Plaza Hotel concurrent with the MotoGP at Laguna Seca. Extensive information and registration forms are available at www.montereyclassicbikeauction.com. MCBA ’05 set a new standard for the consignment and acquisition of collectible motorcycles, with frenzied bidding action surrounding rare and one-of-a-kind bikes from all motorcycle genres. This year’s equally remarkable offerings are pictured and described in detail on the event website. State-of-the-art “Simulcast Auction” software will again enable collectors who are unable to attend the auction in person to bid online from anywhere in the world in “real time” using only a personal computer and a broadband connection. In 2005, a third of MCBA’s winning bidders used their “virtual paddle” to secure their prize. The free early registration offer has resulted in firm commitments from the owners of numerous noteworthy vehicles, several of which will be announced shortly.
