UMC Announces 2018 Event Schedule

Track signs management contract with Tooele County for 2018 season

TOOELE VALLEY, UTAH (March 30, 2018) — Utah Motorsports Campus is pleased to announce its schedule of events for the 2018 season.

The 2018 season will include a full slate of amateur and professional racing events as well as the return of the very popular Lantern Fest and Cruzer Palooza Car Show, and the UMC Kart Center will be open for kart and simulator rentals in addition to group and corporate events.

“We are very excited to get going again in 2018,” said Willem Geyer, General Manager of UMC. “We have another exciting schedule of events for our great fans, and we continue to strive to make UMC one of Utah’s best venues for family fun and entertainment.”

There will be three major racing events in 2018, commencing with the 200-mph Superbikes of the MotoAmerica Championship over the weekend of July 21-22 in the MotoAmerica Championship of Utah. The Pirelli World Challenge returns to UMC on August 11-12 with its staggering variety of world-class sports cars for the Grand Prix of Utah. The action switches to the dirt on August 25-26 as the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series brings their 900-hp, gravity-defying trucks for two days of all-out off-road war.

Other notable racing events include the 13th annual AHRMA Bonneville Vintage Grand Prix for vintage and historic motorcycles on Labor Day weekend (September 1-2), two visits from the Porsche Pirelli Trophy West USA for Porsche 911 GT3s (May 5-6, October 20-21), and three visits from the Intermountain Region of the Porsche Club of America (April 28, June 23, September 22). In addition, the weekend of July 28-29 will see the inaugural visit from the ChampCar Endurance Series, with its Rocky Mountain 24 endurance race.

A very busy amateur racing calendar will include an eight-round schedule for the sports cars of the Utah Region of the National Auto Sport Association (NASA Utah), a six-round schedule for the Superbikes of the Utah Sport Bike Association’s Law Tigers Masters of the Mountains series, a four-round series for the Utah Region of the Lucas Oil Off Road Regional Racing Series, a six-round series for the Utah Supermoto Championship and a 13-round series for the Utah Kart Championship.

As ever, there will be numerous ways for enthusiasts to satisfy their own need for speed. The UMC Kart Track will be open all season starting April 2, and the popular Wide Open Wednesday program also returns, allowing fans to drive their street cars on the racetrack in controlled conditions on the first Wednesday evening of each month. UMC’s Open Track Days, which started in 2016, will continue with more dates and opportunities for participants to really explore the limits of themselves and their cars.

Off the track, the extremely popular Lantern Fest will return to UMC on May 19, followed a week later by the second annual Cruzer Palooza Car Show on Memorial Day Weekend (May 26).

UMC’s group- and corporate-event staff expects to be busier than ever in 2018, providing groups of all sizes with custom-designed, fun and fast-paced events either as spectators or participants.

Tickets for the MotoAmerica Championship event are now available for purchase at http://www.utahmotorsportscampus.com/utah-racing-… Tickets for other events will be on sale in the near future. UMC is pleased to continue its policy that allows kids 12 and under to be admitted free of charge to all events. Also, we have all eliminated gate fees for spectators to our amateur events. Note that this schedule of events is tentative, and some changes could be made.

Utah Motorsports Campus is managing the facility formerly known as Miller Motorsports Park on behalf of Tooele County while the procedures to sell the facility take place.

Mitime Utah Investment, LLC, the parent company of Utah Motorsports Campus, has agreed with the Tooele County Board of Commissioners to an extension of the existing facility management agreement through December 31, 2018.
