JORDAN SUZUKI RETURNS TO MILLER MOTORSPORTS PARK Yates and Holden Look for Podium Finishes Aurora, IL Michael Jordan Motorsports Suzuki rider Aaron Yates looks to defend his podium finish when the Jordan Suzuki team returns to Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah, June 22-24, 2007. At last season’s races at Miller Motorsports Park, Yates piloted his Suzuki GSX-R1000 to three top-10 finishes, including a second place podium slot in the Superstock event. Also competing for the checkered flag in this weekend’s 13 lap (60K) Superstock race is Yates’ teammate Jake Holden. Miller Motorsports Park is the only track on the current AMA race schedule at which Yates has not won. With the backing of a new team and with team owner Michael Jordan expected to be in attendance, Yates hopes to change that by giving his crew their second AMA Superstock win in 2007 on Sunday. Holden, who has enjoyed two podium finishes of his own this season, would love to challenge Yates for the coveted top spot on the podium. In addition to Superstock racing, both Jordan Suzuki riders compete in the AMA Superbike series. While Holden races both classes on his Superstock Suzuki GSX-R1000, Yates rides a full Superbike in that event. “Since Road America, the crew has spent a lot of time on Superbike engine development,” states technical manager, Pete Mauhar. “We are really looking forward to getting the bikes off the dyno and out on to the track.” Yates, who qualified his Superbike for the front row at the last two rounds of racing, briefly led each race and also grabbed the holeshot in race two at Road America, proving he has the skill and Superbike power needed for podium contention. Jordan Suzuki fans can watch Yates and Holden race on the 3.048 mile outer course at Miller Motorsports Park on Saturday in the AMA Superbike race and then again on Sunday in the AMA Superstock and the AMA Superbike race two. “We enjoy Miller Motorsports Park, with its challenging layout, and great garage facilities. The Utah Jazz staff is also great to work with,” General Manager Ken Abbott notes. For more information on the team, visit the race team website at www.23race.com. Another race preview press release, issued by Rich Oliver’s Mystery School: 12 year old Royce McLean heads to his first USGPRU 125 Grand Prix race at Miller Motorsports Park this weekend with the AMA Superbike Championship. Royce will make his first start among the fastest 125 GP riders in the United States, looking to gain bike set up experience and track knowledge for a possible full 125 Grand Prix season in 2008. Royce hails from Coaldale, Alberta Canada, and will be racing a stock Yamaha TZ125. Last weekend he completed his fifth Ultra Pro Camp at the Mystery School, and is ready to take what he has learned to the race this weekend. Rich Oliver had this to say about Royce and his father Todd, “Royce has been one of our most dedicated and determined students of any age, and we have had some really top level, tough guys take our Pro Camp program. What I like about him is his ability to learn quickly, his generous and helpful attitude, and the fact that he is much more than just another fast kid. Amazing is this day and age, he puts on youth riding clinics for kids in Canada, does public speaking at various schools, runs his own business, and helps his father Todd out at work. He has also won multiple Minibike road racing Championships in Canada on Yamaha TT-R125s and YZ85s that have been modified for pavement racing. “Todd was able to spent Monday in the Mystery School shop learning about the Yamaha’s gearing adjustments. We organized his various gearbox ratios and learned how to change out his cassette transmission. Since the bike is stock, he is hoping to learn about the jetting, gearing, and chassis adjustments needed for Royce’s riding style and weight this year, and then do some hop-up engine mods for next season when he is more familiar with the tuning complexity’s of the TZ125. We are proud of Royce and wish him the best this upcoming weekend in the 125 race!” The US 125 Grand Prix National Championship® and 250 Grand Prix National Championship™ The USGPRU is the officially recognized 125 Grand Prix National Championship® and 250 Grand Prix National Championship™ series. More, from a press release issued by AMA Pro Racing: HONDA SUMMIT OF SPEED HOLDS SUPERMOTO CHALLENGE Local Rider Cassidy Anderson Looks to Continue His Hometown Success PICKERINGTON, Ohio AMA Supermoto slides into Miller Motorsports Park, a state-of-the-art, multi-configurational road racing circuit located in Tooele, Utah this weekend, June 23, for The Plaza Cycle AMA Supermoto Challenge, round three of the 10-round AMA Supermoto Championship. The event is part of the Honda Summit of Speed weekend and joins the AMA Superbike Championship presented by Parts Unlimited for three days of non-stop motorcycle racing action. Supermoto is one of the fastest growing forms of professional motorcycle racing. Supermoto racers combine skills from a variety of racing styles. Track layouts are unique, as they feature both right and left hand turns on paved and dirt surfaces. Track designs include the Parts Unlimited Urbancross which requires broad racing skills. Combined, these elements make this sport one of the most thrilling disciplines of motorcycle racing for both spectators and racers. This will be the second year the AMA Supermoto Championship has visited the Miller Motorsports facility. In 2006 Honda’s Jeff Ward and Yamaha’s Doug Henry split race wins in the Supermoto class doubleheader, while Husqvarna’s David Baffeleuf scored the win in the Supermoto Unlimited class, and Honda’s Cassidy Anderson of Provo, Utah ran away with the Supermoto Lites win. Anderson, who resides in nearby Provo, has moved up to the premier class and is currently sitting in 11th place in the AMA Red Bull Supermoto class standings. At the season opener in St Louis, Anderson finished a credible third place. However, Anderson crashed while leading in round two and ended up near the rear of the field. Anderson hopes to rebound in Utah. “I feel confident going into the race this weekend,” said Anderson earlier this week. “I have always ridden well at Miller in local races and at last year’s AMA event. I have been testing and training at the track. I had some bad luck at the last week race, but I am looking forward to regrouping and battling for the win on Saturday.” “It is great to have a race this close to home. After traveling on the road for so long it is nice to be able to wake up at my own house and drive to the track,” continued Anderson, “This track is really like a second home to me. I am excited and glad that all my friends and family can have the opportunity to come and support me (while) racing.” Troy Lee Designs Honda rider Jeff Ward leads the AMA Red Bull Supermoto premier class championship over Graves Yamaha’s Mark Burkhart by only 4 points. Both riders have scored wins so far this season. Factory Aprilia Rip It Energy Racing’s Ben Carlson hopes to continue his winning ways in the AMA PPG Supermoto Unlimited class presented by M&R Products. Carlson, the 2006 class champion has a 15-point lead over Robert Loire of Salem, Wis., and Josh Chisum from Bakersifeld, Calif., both tied with 35 points. Brandon Currie is looking for his third straight win this season on his Graves Yamaha in the AMA Hot Wheels Supermoto Lites class Championship. Currie from Anaheim, Calif., heads into this weekends event with a 6-point lead over Troy Lee Designs Honda rider David Pingree.
