Motorcycle Industry Council Welcomes Newest Members to MIC Dealer Advisory Council Jerry Lenz, Rick Rizzon Bring Experience, Knowledge to Group IRVINE, Calif., Sept. 30, 2013 – The Motorcycle Industry Council continues to expand its new MIC Dealer Advisory Council to include two powersports dealers from opposite ends of the country. Jerry Lenz, general manager of Beaverton Motorcycles in Tigard, OR, and Rick Rizzon, owner of Rizzon Cycle in Middlesex, NJ, are the newest additions to what will eventually be an eight-member advisory council to MIC’s new dealership member class. Thus far, 252 dealers in 41 states, representing 176 out of 436 congressional districts, have joined the MIC. Inline image 4 “The MIC is pleased with the progress of the assembly of the Dealer Advisory Council,” said MIC President Tim Buche. “Representing the powersports industry in the northeast and northwest, our two newest members bring a wealth of experience and a breadth of knowledge to our already diverse and highly qualified council. The MIC both thanks and welcomes Jerry Lenz and Rick Rizzon to our fold.” Intended to represent the needs and interests of new dealer members, the council was implemented with the MIC’s decision to include dealers in its membership for the first time since 1974. They will advise the Board and Aftermarket Committee, while the Board will direct Dealer/Retailer dues revenue to market expansion, training and education, public policy and government relations activities. “I’m really looking forward to being a part of the MIC Dealer Advisory Council,” said Beaverton’s Lenz. “I believe that I can help bring the dealer’s perspective to the MIC and I look forward to working closely with the new dealer members in an advisory capacity. Together, we can all work together on how to best benefit and develop our industry, both now and in the future.” Beaverton Motorcycles is a multi-line dealership that serves the Pacific Northwest. Lenz credits much of the store’s success to a solid accessory business that complements the sales of motorcycles, ATVs and ROVs. In New Jersey, Rizzon started Rizzon Cycle in 1981 after working in another dealership for almost a decade. The Kawasaki/Suzuki dealership currently caters to the entire northeast and utilizes its own UPS Shipping Center to accommodate orders from all over the country. “I am honored to join this elite group of dealers,” said Rizzon. “I’ve been in this business for over 30 years and I’m still excited to learn new things and I’m eager to share my ideas and experiences with the other MIC dealer members. I would like to thank everyone at the MIC for inviting me to join the Dealer Advisory Council and I look forward to doing my best to help support our industry.” Lenz and Rizzon join the already named MIC Dealer Advisory Council members Kim Harrison, general manager of Coleman Powersports in Woodbridge, VA; Jim Foster, owner of Killeen Powersports in Killeen, TX; Bob Althoff, owner of A.D. Farrow Co. in Columbus, OH; and Sandy Stroope, owner of Boat World Honda Polaris in Harrison, AR. The Motorcycle Industry Council exists to preserve, protect and promote motorcycling through government relations, communications and media relations, statistics and research, aftermarket programs, development of data communications standards, and activities surrounding technical and regulatory issues. As a not-for-profit, national industry association, the MIC seeks to support motorcyclists by representing manufacturers, distributors, dealers and retailers of motorcycles, scooters, ATVs, ROVs, motorcycle/ATV/ROV parts, accessories and related goods and services, and members of allied trades such as insurance, finance and investment companies, media companies and consultants. The MIC is headquartered in Irvine, Calif., with a government relations office in metropolitan Washington, D.C. First called the MIC in 1970, the organization has been in operation since 1914.
