Just to avoid any confusion: Mansfield Motorsports Park, a half-mile paved oval track located in Mansfield, Ohio, is closing and will not hold races in 2009 due to its failure to find a title sponsor for its NASCAR truck race and other economic pressures, according to a December 18 report in the Mansfield News Journal (~http://www.mansfieldnewsjournal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2008312180011~). Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, a 2.4-mile road course located in Lexington, Ohio, is open and planning to run a full schedule of events in 2009, according to Cathy Nowlan, Corporate Sponsorship Executive. “We are open and looking forward to an exciting season of racing in 2009,” said Nowlan. “We are fortunate that most of the track’s corporate partners are long-time partners, and they have stated that they will continue with us through 2009. Some have longer commitments than that.” Mid-Ohio’s 2009 schedule includes: the Honda Super Cycle Weekend presented by Dunlop Tire on July 17-19, AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days July 24-26 and the AMA Road Race Grand Championships September 11-13.
