DENVER, Colo. (March 26, 2012) – M1 PowerSports has added Cigar Store Indians as the featured musical guest for the Triumph Big Kahuna Atlanta, scheduled for April 20-22, 2012 at Braselton, Ga.’s Road Atlanta. The alternative country-rock band, which hails from nearby Crabapple, Ga., has reunited following a short break from making music and will take the stage Friday and Saturday evenings to rock the crowd. The concerts will take place in the Café Racer Village, centrally located in the M1 PowerSports vendor area atop one of the track’s beautiful rolling hills. “The Café Racer Village is going to be a hot spot all weekend long,” said Cameron Gray, CEO of M1 PowerSports. “Cigar Store Indians have a strong following in and around the Atlanta area and the intensity of their live shows is exactly what we needed to add to the weekend schedule. As all Big Kahuna fans know, the entertainment doesn’t end with the on-track action, we’ll keep the party going all evening.” Cigar Store Indians formed in the summer of 1991 when singer/songwriter Ben Friedman and lead guitarist Jimmy Lavender began to jam together. Both shared a love for the 1950’s rock/country sound known as rockabilly music. In 1995, after developing a large fan base in and around Atlanta, Ga., the band was offered their first recording contract on Landslide Records. Constant touring and memorable songs launched the self-titled first release to #3 on the Gavin Americana Charts. During the day, fans visiting the Café Racer Village can walk through rows of beautifully restored and customized motorcycles while enjoying music from an on-site DJ. The Café Racer Magazine Custom Bike Show will put the spotlight on many of the iconic machines on display during the weekend, and at the end of the day on Friday and Saturday the Cigar Store Indians will pump up the crowd with their rockabilly ensemble. “Nothing’s better than a bunch of motorcycles racing and good music,” said Ben Friedman, lead singer of Cigar Store Indians and narrator for the “Café Racer” television show. “We had a really good following in the South East and pockets across the country and we just gave it a break for a second. I run an organic vegetable farm north of Atlanta now, but sometimes farmers got to get out and kick the cobwebs off and rock and roll for a while, you know? I’m tired of singing to the pigs! It feels so good to be back with the guys and playing all these old songs, I’m excited about it, I really am. I’m happy that the production company for the Café Racer show was kind enough to call and use some of my music. That gave me an extra push to put this thing back together and make some noise somewhere.” With strong backing from the industry, sponsorship opportunities for the Café Racer Village are filling up fast.
