Two-time former British Superbike Champion and former Superbike World Championship regular Gregorio Lavilla will fill in for Team Guandalini Racing’s Brendan Roberts in this weekend’s World Superbike races at Kyalami, in South Africa, according to a posting on the team’s official website. Roberts broke his leg in a horrific first-corner, multi-bike accident during World Superbike Race On May 10 at Monza, according to the team. Lavilla recently tested the Team Guandalini Ducati 1098R at Misano (before Roberts was injured at Monza) with positive results, according to news reports out of Europe.
