FEATURED IN THE SEPTEMBER 2018 ISSUE OF ROADRACING WORLD…

“Although this was a Yamaha factory team, it was mainly financed by Yamaha International Corp., Yamaha’s American subsidiary (hence the yellow and black bike graphics) with help from Goodyear, Champion Spark Plugs, Lectron Carburetors, and Yamaha Japan. Yamaha International in the U.S. sourced parts as well as two motorhomes and a large panel van which were shipped to the team’s base near Yamaha Europe’s Amsterdam HQ. The team, meanwhile, went to Venezuela for opening rounds of the 1978 World Championship Series. Roberts gave the TZ250 a fairytale debut, winning the 250cc Grand Prix race by 15 seconds.”
