Danny Kelsey and Derek Wagnon headed a long list of winners this weekend at round six of the Central Motorcycle Roadracing Association’s championship series at MotorSport Ranch near Cresson, Texas. Kelsey and Wagnon each claimed three expert-class wins during Sunday’s 17-race sprint program, which took place under grueling conditions with temperatures reaching well over the 100 degree mark. Despite the extreme heat and humidity, 501 sprint entries and 25 endurance teams graced the grids for the two-day event, which paid contingency money from Honda, Yamaha and Buell. Kelsey’s list of accomplishments on Sunday included an exciting 0.143-second win over Ty Howard in the South Central Race Center C Superstock race, backed up by wins in the RaceworX A Superstock and Island Racing Services C Superbike races. “The race with Ty was a big win for me,” said Kelsey. “I started from the third row and ended up getting the holeshot, which was big. I just put head down and I could see a white bike behind me and I was thinking it was Ty but I just went after it and got the win.” Meanwhile, Wagon took the victory in the prestigious Formula 1 race, in addition to wins in the AVTEQ A Superbike race and the B Superbike race – a race in which Wagnon topped Kelsey by 0.261 seconds. Other notable winners included Ricky Jordan, who beat out Kelsey for the win in the B Superstock race; and Conner Blevins who took wins in the GMAN 125 GP, Lightweight Twins Expert and the Exel Transportation Formula 2 races. In the Novice divisions, Tony Ta claimed three wins while Alonzo Contreras, Blake Cochran and Scott Buckley claimed two each. In Saturday’s CMRA 6-hour endurance race, Moto-Ace Racing (Cory Burleson, Derek Wagnon, Joe Prussiano, Jeremy Kidd, Clint Shobert) took the overall win, beating out series points leaders Team Mancuso Powersports (Paul Wilkinson, Craig Clark, Bryan West, Dustin Meador, Randall Kienast) by a three lap margin. Rounding out the podium was WFO!!!Komodo (Wayne Wilder, Ottis Lance, Danny Kelsey) with Big Gas Racing (Matt Lincoln, Scott Buckley, Brad Kelly, Alan Phillips, Gabe McClendon) and Lone Star Track Days (Gabe McClendon, Mark Niemi, Derek Thomas, Andrew Galindo, Garet Tomlinson) finishing fourth and fifth. The CMRA returns to action on August 7-9 at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit near Hallett, Oklahoma. Results: RACEWORX SUPERSTOCK A EXPERT: 1. Danny Kelsey (Suz GSXR600); 2. Ty Howard (Kaw ZX-6R); 3.
