Jason Perez Racing With Kando Racing Yamaha Endurance Team At Miller Motorsports Park This Weekend With WERA. Kando Racing is competing in the WERA National Endurance round May 19, 2012, at the beautiful Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah. They competed 6 years ago in the endurance race and beat Vesrah Suzuki by 4 seconds. The team is fielding a JFT Motorsports Yamaha R1 in Open Superbike, and Jason Perez, former AMA Superbike Rookie of the year and AMA regular, is back after five years out of the sport to ride with the team. Team captain, Larry Pointer, has entered three different Yamaha R1’s over the past few years in selected events with good results: 2004-Sears Point 4 hour, third place, 2004 WERA National at California Speedway, third overall, 2006 WERA National Miller, first place. When asked about putting the team together again after all this time, Larry Pointer had this to say, “I had the opportunity to field a bike, wanted to get my good friend Jason Perez back on a big bike. He was very exciting to watch and wanted to see if he can help the team to an overall win. He’s been running ultra marathons and wanted to get back into endurance racing again! Also wanted to get another great friend, Jay Tanner, back on a race bike in an endurance race. Jay raced AMA for many years, club raced, was a race director, works for a major motorcycle manufacturer, owns his own motorcycle performance shop, and built the bike we are racing. Dean Mizdal was an AMA regular, currently club races, owns his own motorcycle performance shop, and jumped at the chance to join the team. Just really got to know Dean last year at Miller when we raced together. These riders have the right temperament and track experience to win this race. The only member of the original team that isn’t included this time is Shane Turpin, because of his wild card entry for World Superbike next weekend. I just feel that endurance racing is very fun and competitive, and am going to bring the best team I can to the table. A very big thank you to our sponsors, JFT Motorsports, Yamaha, Yamalube, Shoei, Titax Levers, Michelin Tires, Podium Tire, WERA. And a special thanks to David Perez and Jim Davis.”
