New Crew Chief, New Results for T&J Racing’s Gessner

T&J Racing’s John Gessner began his 2014 racing season with some changes to the team, a new focus and better results out of the gate. The team’s crew chief for 2014 will be Mike Pascarella from Sacramento, California. Mike brings many years of experience as a racer, coach and crew chief in many different racing disciplines, and Gessner notched his first podium finish with a 2nd place in WMRRA’s 750 Supersport class during Pascarella’s first weekend working with the team at The Ridge Motorsports Park in Shelton, Wa.

“Mike and I have worked really well together from the beginning” said Gessner, age 15. “He taught me a lot of new things from the first time I worked with him, and he really got me to step outside my old comfort zone and to be more aggressive, especially in the early laps of a race. We raced in very challenging conditions this first weekend, from sunny and cool to pouring rain and wind to hail, and I’m learning how to adapt quickly and keep going faster every session. I’m really looking forward to training more with Mike and making sure we’re on our game for AFM. After we tested at Buttonwillow in February, I decided we weren’t quite where we needed to be, so we decided to work with Mike in a familiar setting at The Ridge to see where we could make improvements. It was good to see our friends at WMRRA again, and it was really good to stand on the podium again.”
