Jason Perez won a Toyota Tundra in the annual drawing held at the WSMC awards banquet, in Lancaster, California Saturday night. Riders who finished in the top 20 positions in a WSMC Toyota F1 race during the 2005 season were eligible, with riders getting one drawing entry for each top-10 race finish. Four-time 500cc World Champion Eddie Lawson drew Perez’s name out of a hat. Perez, who also won the truck a few years ago as a teenager, told the crowd that because he may be headed to Europe (for a European Superstock Series ride) and won’t be around to drive it, he may have to give the truck to his sister. Earlier during the banquet, Perez had mentioned his sister, saying that because his parents spend so much of their money on his racing program, “we never buy her ANYthing.” In another drawing, for F2 participants, Mark Watts won an enclosed trailer from Golden West Trailers. Kenny Kopecky was crowned as 2005 WSMC Overall Champion during the banquet. More to follow.
