Jackson Racing are pleased to announce that they have secured the services of Chris Palmer to compete on their 600cc and 750cc Suzuki machinery for the forthcoming 2009 season. The deal will see triple TT winner Palmer campaign the bikes at the three International road races – the North West 200, Isle of Man TT and Ulster Grand Prix – and with an already impressive track record, the 45-year old is ideally placed to add to the teams’ success. In addition, Palmer and the team will also take in the Southern 100, the three Scarborough meetings at Oliver’s Mount, and selected other events whilst he will also continue in the 2-stroke classes riding for the Isle of Man-based Mannin Collections squad. Jackson Racing are a long established, professional team who are passionate about pure road racing and this potent mix of passion and experience has brought them great success for more than 30 years. The team has many notable career highlights including three World Championships in 1977, 1978 and 1979, plus countless wins at National and International level. The team’s long term sponsor and bike owner, W.A.Corless Joinery of Galgate (Lancaster), will again be the main sponsor of the team and have been supplying top race machines to Alan Jackson Senior, Alan Jackson Junior & Andy Jackson since the early 1980’s. Speaking about the new season, team manager and rider Alan Jackson jnr, holder of the outright lap record at the Manx Grand Prix, said: “Chris has been one of the finest road racers for well over a decade now and we’re delighted that he will be riding for us in 2009. His record is second to none and he continues to obtain results of the highest order so we’re confident we can help him add to his list of achievements. The size and power of the 750cc machine will suit Chris a lot more than the more powerful 1000cc Superbikes whilst he will again be well to the fore in the 600cc class. It’s a great signing for the team and we’re all eagerly looking forward to the year ahead.” The team also intend hoping to sign a young, up and coming rider to join Palmer in 2009 and hope to make an announcement soon.
