From a press release issued by Brandware Public Relations, on behalf of Aprilia USA/Piaggio Group: NEW YORK Aprilia USA/Lloyd Brothers Motor-sports heads into the 2008 season in the enviable position as champions of the SunTrust MOTO-ST SST class. “Racing has always been important to the Aprilia brand and winning the 2007 MOTO-ST SST championship was a great accomplishment for us,” says Aprilia Brand Manager Rick Panettieri. “We are looking forward to the increased level of competition in the MOTO-ST series for 2008 and even more exciting racing.” The road to the championship began a year ago, when the team captured a dramatic first-place finish at Daytona’s legendary 3.56-mile road-course aboard Aprilia’s powerful production-based Tuono 1000R V-Twin. The team went on to earn a total of three first-place finishes and two second-place finishes on their way to the championship. Aprilia’s 2008 racing season will get underway next month, as the Aprilia USA/Lloyd Brothers Motor-sports team takes to the track at Daytona International Speedway for the opening round of the 2008 SunTrust MOTO-ST Series on March 2nd. The new race season also brings some new riders to the Aprilia USA/Lloyd Brothers Motor-sports team. For 2008 the teams will feature the combinations of Ty Howard and Mike Himmelsbach joined by Zac Chapman and Henry Wiles. These racers will put the Aprilia RSV to the test in what promises to be an action-packed season. Aprilia Off and Running on the Flat Track Aprilia USA and Lloyd Brothers Motor-sports will again join forces for their third season on the AMA Grand National Dirt Track Twins Series. This year, racer Henry Wiles will compete on the SXV 5.5, the motorcycle that won the AMA Supermoto Unlimited class in 2007. “The lightweight, powerful V-Twin is a great platform to build a competitive flat track race bike for the half mile events” Panettieri said. “The Aprilia off road V-Twins have won races in supermoto, enduro, and rally events and we are looking forward to getting some great results in the AMA Flat Track series.” The Aprilia USA /Lloyd Brothers Motor-sports team is sponsored by: Aprilia USA, American Agip, F3 Motor-sports, Af1 Racing Aprilia , Penske Racing Shocks, Motion Pro, K & N Filters, Vesrah, Diamond Chain, Vortex, Leo Vince, Dynojet, Suzuka Tire Warmers, Martin Euro-sports and Sharkskinz.
