Historic Moto Gran Prix Vintage Bike Races Will Run During Vintage Car Event On Hutchinson Island Course In Savannah, Georgia October 29-31

EVENT UPDATE FOR OCTOBER 29 31, 2010 Historic Moto Gran Prix (HMGP) in conjunction with Historic Sports Car Racing will host our final event for the 2010 season at Hutchinson Island, Savannah Harbor, Savannah, GA during the Savannah/Hilton head Speed Classic. Thursday, October 28, 2010 is move in and set up at the track between 7 am to 5pm. Upon completion of your entry at the gate, all riders must proceed to the paddock area, see Pam Vershure at HMGP registration to complete your entry and sign our release. For more information and race schedule, see HSR website, click on event info. At the conclusion of test day sessions at 5pm on Thursday, a police escorted parade of cars and motorcycles will depart the Island to Savannah Square for all the festivities. A live band will provide entertainment for the evening. Tickets will be on sale at the square for dinner, $25.00 per person, all you can eat and drink! Everyone will return to the Island with the escort. HMGP will have four sessions on track Friday and Saturday. Sunday there will be five and the event will conclude at 3:30pm. Econo Lodge, US Hwy 80, Pooler, GA 912-748-4124 is offering HMGP a special room rate of $42.99, plus tax for up to 2 adults. Jacuzzi rooms are not included in the offer. You must specify that you are with HMGP in order to receive the special offer. Anyone racing the two stroke motorcycles are highly encouraged to join in our events as we would like to increase the class size. HMGP welcomes owners of historic, vintage, collectible or former factory race bikes, who would like to bring their bikes back out to show or to race on-track. The race format for all competition will be gentleman’s racing, in four classes and grouped largely by production era. Most of our riders are 40 plus representing a vast range of industries and influence and enjoy displaying and riding their classic motorcycles. Interested parties who are owners of classic or vintage bikes, or those who own former AMA, World Superbike, MotoGP, AHRMA, WERA and CCS bikes are encouraged to join HMGP and show and/or race their vintage bikes at future events. All machines must meet certain criteria to qualify for race and show competitions. Yamaha Motor Corp., USA also continues as a proud regional sponsor of the HMGP.
