After an 11-year MotoGP career, 33-year-old Sete Gibernau called a press conference to announce his retirement. The 2006 season was specifically difficult for Gibernau, after injuries sidelined him from multiple GP races. And although Casey Stoner was signed by Ducati Marlboro to replace Gibernau for the 2007 season, he did receive offers. But Gibernau had already made his decision. “I am going out at the top, accomplishing a small dream of mine; to be happy,” he said.
