Vintage motorcycles to compete at FIM North America Vintage Road Race Championships

Event is June 13-14 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway

PICKERINGTON, Ohio — Vintage road racing motorcycles will compete for continental titles this weekend, June 13-14, at Vintage Laconia, a Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme North America championship taking place at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

FIM North America is the North American continental union of the FIM. It includes the American Motorcyclist Association and the Canadian Motorcyclist Association. Because Vintage Laconia takes place on U.S. soil, it also is an AMA-sanctioned event.

“Vintage competition is an important connection to the past, and it inspires us in the present day,” said AMA Track Racing Manager Ken Saillant. “Over the decades, racing has provided the mechanism through which motorcycles have evolved to become the amazing machines we enjoy today. If you’ve never seen a vintage race, it’s a real treat that is both entertaining and educational.”

The 2015 grand marshal for Vintage Laconia is AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famer Ed Fisher. Fisher won the Laconia Classic in 1953 and was one of Triumph’s first East Coast factory riders. Fisher, who will celebrate his 90th birthday at the event, will race one of his vintage Triumphs for an FIM North American title.

Vintage Laconia is owned and promoted by the United States Classic Racing Association Inc. Other remaining motorcycle and sidecar events on the USCRA calendar include races on Sept. 7 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and Sept. 18-20 at New Jersey Motorsports Park.
