Recently, Ducati sent emails directly to a select group of customers and enthusiasts inviting them to follow the development of its new “Project 1708” via a special website.

The email read:

“Dedicated to all dreamers

“This is a very special moment for Ducati, and for me personally.

“It is the moment in which we invite all our most passionate customers to share something truly unique.

“Every product we craft is a declaration of our lust for perfection. But none is comparable to Project 1708.

“In this project, we model the most advanced carbon fibre into futuristic aerodynamic-driven shapes. Here we realize our dreams as engineers, manufacturers and passionate riders.

“Project 1708 is a true statement, this is where we draw the line between trying and doing. It is our foremost pioneristic creature.

“And I am very proud to present you to this private website, where you will be introduced step by step to every aspect of this bike, from the deepest secrets to the most refined details of this masterpiece of engineering and design.

“Welcome to Project 1708.”

“Claudio Domenicali

“Ducati Motor Holding CEO.”

The email also included a link to the private website, which the addressee of the email could use their email address to create an account to gain access.

Roadracing World was not able to gain access to that website, but according to sources with close connections to Ducati in Italy, “Project 1708” is a Panigale V4 Superleggera.

The Panigale V4 Superleggera will a be lighter, more powerful, and much more expensive carbon-fiber-clad version of a Panigale V4.

Unconfirmed reports state a claimed dry weight of 335 pounds (152 kg), claimed engine output of 234 horsepower (with the included racing exhaust installed), and a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) in the U.S. of $100,000. Production is expected to be very limited with deliveries starting in May 2020.

Stay tuned for more details.
