DAMIAN CUDLIN and David Mcfadden will join PTR Honda for the 11th round of the World Supersport Championship in Turkey on Sunday 15th September, adding strength to the team at a circuit that is new to the calendar and most riders. Australian Cudlin is an experienced Supersport racer who has recently raced in World Endurance. South African Mcfadden has results in 1000 Superstock racing and will stand in for David Linortner who suffered a car crash last month. David said: “This is a great opportunity for me to ride in World Supersport. This is like a dream come true, I’m really excited to be on the CBR600RR, a bike that has given me much success in South Africa and one I’m very comfortable on. The fact that it is a new circuit for everyone levels the playing field. Friday first free practice is a long session; this gives me time to find my feet with the new bike. I would like to thank Team Honda PTR for this opportunity and will give it my all in Istanbul.” Luca Marconi is hoping to get back to his top 10 challenging best whilst Danny Webb is still on a steep learning curve as he adapts to 600cc racing from Moto3. Danny has experience of the track though, so for him in particular, it is a chance to make significant steps forward. The race starts at 1330 local time on Sunday, September 15th, with practice and qualifying sessions on the Friday and Saturday. The first practice session is a longer than usual 90-minutes to allow riders more time to learn the new circuit. Simon Buckmaster, PTR Honda Team Manager: “Danny learnt a lot at Nurburgring and will be looking to put it to use in Turkey. Only a few riders know the track and he is one of them, which will help. I think he’ll improve a lot in this event and we are looking to see him challenge for points. “With nearly no riders having ridden this track and more time in the first session, this round is Nacho’s best chance for a points finish this year as the field is levelled. “Luca’s struggled to find his form since his injury at Imola. We are hoping the extra track time will let him find his rhythm and achieve another top 10 finish to add to the pair he scored earlier in the season. “We welcome David Mcfadden to the team at Istanbul. David is taking over David Linortner’s ride as he is not ready to race after his car crash. It will be interesting to see what he can achieve and we look forward to supporting him. “Damian replaces Matt Davies who is missing this round and is at home in Australia. Damian is confident he can make a good impression on the Championship as he looks for 2014 opportunities.”
